Zel Mallorca

Architectural renovation project - Hotel Zel Mallorca, by Melia: Redesign of an existing building to adapt it to the new ZEL hotel concept, which highlights the Mediterranean spirit by embodying the concepts of ‘fiesta and siesta’ so characteristic of the Mediterranean idiosyncrasy through the courtyard, outdoor living and integration with the surroundings.

Biophilic design taken as a starting point. A concept that is reflected in open and dynamic spaces, as the common thread throughout the hotel, rooms with colours, textures and shapes that refer to nature, seeking a feeling of peace, well-being and relaxation. An organic and revitalising aesthetic, inspired by a Mediterranean house. Wood, natural fabrics and soft colours related to water. The courtyard, a basic element of Mediterranean culture since ancient Greek times, is the heart, epicentre and driving force of the hotel, serving as a lobby and connecting the different areas.

Throughout the complex, many of the ceilings are covered with a sand-coloured burlap-like fabric and topped with fine wooden beams, adding an extra touch of warmth.

The hotel's interiors feature a Mediterranean influence from cultures beyond the Balearic Islands, such as Italy and Greece, with maritime prints and colours.
