In this project, we were fortunate to have Urban Input and Patrizia as clients, who together wanted to develop a new product for the Barcelona office market.

The office market –on the one hand at a time of maximum expansion in Barcelona and on the other hand in the midst of the COVID pandemic– gave us a real challenge: creating a new office building capable of being a leader not only in terms of spaces and services but also in becoming a regenerative and biophilic building.

The area, zoned for commercial space and part of the new green axis for the Can Ricard development plan, made it necessary for us to think about how to integrate our building into the local manufacturing history and the new, active developments adjacent thereto.

The plot and its volumetric possibilities allowed us to shape the building's mass in such a way that, beyond creating what would have been a directly detached building, we were able to create a module that has a relationship with the adjoining buildings and public spaces in addition to generating a micro-environment of different layouts with the ability of all of them to enjoy all the areas. The main values: to create a building whose width and height proportions would allow us to have maximum exposure to the outside from any point.

To create a central, open courtyard to provide us with a park-like feel, achieving a vertical garden that jumps from one area to the next, creating the type of biophilic space that contributes so much to our new way of living and working.

The exterior spaces tend to have the same importance as the interior ones, and all the spaces feature diverse morphologies and characteristics. We shy away from the "monotony of space."

The building's mass. It changes in height and recessing, in unison with the mass of Can Ricard and the "La Diagonal" towers, making it different from the common wall it shares with the neighboring building.  Its access point is green, pedestrian from both directions; its ceramic materials and natural glass specifically chosen for temperature and sunlight control end up providing a feeling of naturalness to the whole.
