Purobeach Resort Santa Ponsa - Mallorca
The architecture and interior design of Purobeach Santa Ponsa are conceived as an immersive journey in which light, materials, sounds and textures interact with the Mediterranean environment. The aim is to create a refuge that combines serenity, pleasure and connection with nature, enhancing the leisure experience in a contemporary way.
The intervention respects the original architecture of the building, preserving its character while introducing improvements that update its operational functioning. The result is a harmony between history and contemporaneity.
The interior design reflects a sophisticated Mediterranean style that evokes the essence of Puro hotels. Bright spaces, natural materials and a warm colour palette create a sense of calm and timeless elegance.
The décor completes the design with carefully selected details that reinforce the Mediterranean identity and add a touch of exclusivity and comfort.
The project focuses on wooden furniture made from fine materials with natural finishes, emphasising the importance of quality and durability. The selection includes pieces designed and produced by both local and international suppliers, combining traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design.
Lighting plays a key role in the experience of spaces. Dimmable light fixtures have been incorporated, allowing the intensity of the light to be adjusted via a centralised system. This control facilitates the creation of different scenes throughout the day, adapting the atmosphere to each moment and improving the comfort of the environments.
The establishment consists of a total of twelve buildings, ten of which are used for accommodation and two for common areas, with heights varying between two and three storeys. The areas of the plot not occupied by the buildings are used for car parks, open terraces, garden areas, walkways, two swimming pools and a solarium.
The main intention when planning the renovation of the former Hotel Club Santa Ponça was to improve the services and facilities in order to increase the quality, offering, safety, accessibility and environmental sustainability of the tourist establishment, thereby repositioning it as one of the most attractive hotels in the area.
The terrain of the plot makes this project a challenge when it comes to improving internal connections between buildings and the various common areas for guests, while also creating accessible routes that are as functional as possible for hotel operations within the constraints of the terrain.
This project combines architecture, interior design and installations, thus articulating a final result that attempts to integrate everything into a whole. Interior design plays a key role in the renovation, providing the warmth and comfort that was intended from the outset. The integration of lighting into furniture and other characteristic elements creates spaces that promote relaxation and comfort, which are essential requirements in a hotel of this kind. Luxury, modernity and design come together in unique spaces with a distinctive atmosphere and a constant connection to the Mediterranean Sea.
One of the pillars of the project was to minimise the environmental footprint of the renovation work and the subsequent operation of the hotel. To this end, the aim from the outset was to comply with advanced standards in this area. The hotel has BREEAM certification, which is an international system for assessing and certifying the sustainability of both new and existing buildings. Its objective is to analyse the environmental impact of a building and promote energy efficiency, resource management, occupant health and waste reduction, awarding a score and recognition for the sustainability of the property.
