METT Barcelona
The project is conceived as an architectural restoration of Gran Hotel La Florida that combines the building’s historic charm with a contemporary design approach that enhances its legacy. The intervention includes an exterior revitalisation that improves the façades and surrounding areas, integrating a modern proposal in perfect harmony with Barcelona’s striking landscape.
Inside, the renovation is comprehensive: spaces are redefined with a luxurious and contemporary character, introducing new rooms and suites alongside wellness areas that elevate the guest experience. The interior design has been developed by Kokai Studios, while the Food & Beverage areas were designed by Astet Studio.
The project addresses the hotel’s complete refurbishment, modernising room finishes and furniture throughout. The ground floor is slightly reorganised to optimise the restaurant’s operation and to incorporate a new bar, while the only structural intervention consists of a new staircase connecting the basement to the indoor pool area, improving circulation and access to the spa.
Public areas on the ground floor and part of the basement have been renovated, ensuring improved connectivity between levels. The proposal combines the modernisation of finishes and furnishings with a comprehensive upgrade of the interior spaces, paying particular attention to accessibility, circulation and guest comfort.
The intervention also includes the updating of the restaurant and bar, the remodelling of the courtyard lounge, and the creation of an additional bar on the ground floor. In the basement, the spa, club and gym have been refurbished, incorporating new finishes and high-end equipment.
In the guest rooms, the original layouts have been respected, except in the suites, where modifications were made to enhance comfort. Classic elements of the hotel, such as wooden floors, Bolivar terraces and mouldings in the suspended ceilings, have been preserved, achieving a balance between tradition and modernity.
The restaurants have been completely redesigned by Astet Studio, adding greater chromatic richness and artistic character through works by Santa & Cole, including large-format tapestries, lamps and Lladró sculptures.
The spa has been fully refurbished, incorporating a new staircase connecting it to the basement and an exclusive wellness space designed by Valmont. The terraces have been upgraded and the outdoor bars enhanced, creating a privileged meeting point surrounded by olive trees and offering unique views over Barcelona.
The final result is a hotel that combines elegance, history and modernity, delivering a contemporary luxury experience across all its spaces.
