Barceló Playa Blanca
The natural shapes, colors and textures of the island of Lanzarote have inspired the architectural project for the Barceló Playa Blanca resort, designed by the international architectural firm CMV Architects. The volcanic nature of the island and its native flora are reflected in the hotel's landscaping project. The gardens are transformed into small oases where the user finds serenity and connection with the natural environment.
With a privileged location on the shores of the Atlantic in the municipality of Yaiza, Lanzarote, facing an arm of the sea that separates the island of Lanzarote from Fuerteventura, the resort expands over an area of 100,000 square meters on the seafront.
The project is based on the objective of creating an arrival experience that celebrates the uniqueness of the place. To achieve this, the architecture is subordinated to nature, becoming an element that enhances its beauty. A genuine 'wow' effect has been sought, emanating from the landscape and enveloping the guest from the very first moment.
As soon as you enter, the architectural design blurs the boundaries between inside and outside. The perception of the infinite ocean bathes the entrance door itself. The lobby is conceived as an interior ‘jameo’ that frames the ocean views, while the infinity pool acts as an exterior ‘jameo’ that visually merges with the ocean horizon.
This effect is repeated as many times as one enters or leaves the hotel and is enjoyed by everyone who passes through the hotel, regardless of the type of room they have booked. It is, therefore, a unifying and indissoluble element of the character of the hotel and its location.
The conception of the Resort on different levels responds to a double premise: to generate a memorable visual impact on the guest and to minimise the footprint of the complex on the surroundings. The arrival in height, followed by the descent to the central areas of each Hotel, creates a spectacular effect that enriches the user's experience.
The main lobby, the heart of the complex, stands as a singular space that integrates a distinctive design, without pillars, with a volcanic-inspired geometric ceiling and a sheet of water that merges with the outdoor swimming pools at level 9 and the sea, creating an infinity effect.
The typology of the Resort's rooms is adapted to the diverse needs of its guests, offering 720 units, among which a Premium area stands out, comprising 132 rooms exclusively for adults. Comfort and scenery come together in an experience that blends perfectly with the resort's landscape project and contributes to highlighting the enclave in which it is located.
The resort also features Swim-up rooms, with direct access to a semi-private pool. This innovative concept recreates a private space where you can discover the combination of luxury and nature.
The distribution of the rooms in three residential blocks originating from the main lobby optimises the circulation and privacy of the guests. Each block has a central green courtyard that brings natural light and ventilation to the corridors, creating a pleasant and sustainable environment.
The design of the rooms is characterised by elegance and functionality, with high quality materials and finishes to ensure guests' comfort and well-being.
The resort has an impressive infinity pool, with a length of 180 metres and a heated pool, also with an infinity effect over the Atlantic Ocean, exclusive to the premium area.
The resort's dining experience includes a wide variety of options: two buffet restaurants, two à la carte restaurants that embrace the mix of different cultures, specialising in Mexican and Asian cuisine, a Sports Bar, a Lobby Bar and three Pools Clubs next to the swimming pools.
In addition, the resort has a Wellness Centre, with a water area, a complete gymnasium and a sports centre with paddle tennis and volleyball courts. It also has large leisure areas for children, a children's pool with a spectacular pirate ship with water games, as well as a kids club.
The Resort's convention centre is defined by its versatility and its capacity to host a wide range of events. This space, with a maximum capacity of 800 people, is articulated around an amphitheatre excavated in volcanic lava, an architectural element that establishes a dialogue with the surrounding landscape.
The amphitheatre, covered to guarantee its functionality at any time of the year, is conceived as a multifunctional space that can host presentations, conferences and shows.
The multi-purpose rooms are characterised by their flexibility and state-of-the-art technological equipment.
A totally sustainable hotel project.
The hotel has been built according to the most demanding criteria of efficiency and energy saving, with geothermal and thermal insulation installations, LED lighting, efficient air conditioning and BMS (Building Management System), a system that allows centralised monitoring and control of the building's systems, reducing energy consumption, minimising environmental impact, extending the useful life of the assets and generating greater comfort for guests.
