Hotel Indigo Menorca
In our project for Hotel Indigo Menorca, we immersed ourselves in the deep identity of a neighbourhood shaped by movement: a town that changed its location to survive, a historic crossroads of cultures, and a territory where each sunrise, the first in Spain, signals new possibilities.
The light of the harbour, the strength of the Tramontana wind, the llaüts that continue to set the rhythm of daily life, and the memory of traditional trades make Es Castell a place where tradition and transformation coexist naturally.
The hotel is conceived as a contemporary refuge, designed for both travellers and residents, where each space invites calm, social connection and sensory enjoyment, always guided by the unhurried poc a poc pace so characteristic of the island.
The lobby becomes a true living room for the neighbourhood, a warm and dynamic meeting point. Here, the design combines contemporary elements with references to Menorcan craftsmanship, the historic geometry of the urban layout, and the everyday life felt in the streets, markets and workshops where abarcas are still made and fishing nets repaired.
In the gastronomic and communal spaces, materials with a sense of history, wood, ceramics, stone and natural fibres, engage in dialogue with motifs inspired by local culture: the colours of the harbour at sunset, patterns evoking the marine currents where posidonia grows, or festive designs that recall the jaleo and the fandango. The atmosphere evolves from day to night, mirroring life itself, accompanying bright breakfasts, relaxed lunches and dinners in a more intimate and elegant setting.
The pool area is imagined as a small Mediterranean stage, a social space that celebrates Menorcan joy and its essential relationship with the sea, a place designed to become a reference point within the neighbourhood’s own fabric.
The guestrooms are conceived as serene spaces with a local soul, where art and textures tell stories rooted in Es Castell: the wind that turns centuries-old mills, the llaüts that have connected communities for generations, Talayotic roots, and everyday gestures still found in its squares and workshops. Every detail is designed to make guests feel part of the neighbourhood, discovering it slowly, as those who live there do.
Overall, the project aspires to create a hotel deeply rooted in the cultural and social life of Es Castell, elegant, authentic and welcoming, capable of attracting both first-time visitors and those who already feel this neighbourhood as their home.
