Hotel Paradisus by Meliá Bali
CMV Architects, in collaboration with ASAH, is leading the comprehensive refurbishment of the 494-room Paradisus Bali resort, located off the coast of Nusa Dua, 12 km from Ngurah Rai International Airport. The project proposes a complete modernisation of the existing resort, maintaining the spiritual, natural and cultural essence of Bali. The intervention does not modify the original masterplan, but reconfigures the spaces to improve connectivity and integration with the natural environment.
The refurbishment encompasses the total renovation of the common areas, Balinese villas and guest rooms. New elements include an oceanfront beach club and restaurant, with sand extended inland to reinforce the connection to the ocean. A new adults-only area is also created, designed as a hotel within the hotel, with a private pool and direct access to the sea.
The spa, integrated between the existing villas and the resort's tropical gardens, follows traditional Balinese architecture. In addition, new sports facilities, a refurbished convention area, a water park, a kids club and family rooms are added, expanding the resort's offerings for multi-generational tourism.
The renovation of the eight restaurants and four bars maintains a thematic narrative consistent with Balinese identity, while the kitchens are completely transformed. The interior design of the entire complex uses natural materials such as local stone and wood, maintaining harmony with the natural surroundings.
The lobby is conceived as a space representative of Balinese culture, acting as a living museum of local culture, integrating traditional crafts and decorations. The landscaping, also designed by CMV Architects, uses local plants adapted to Bali's climate and natural materials. The ambient lighting is integrated with the landscape, creating a unique atmosphere in tune with the surroundings.
